Jennifer is a graduate of the Ecole Chocolat Professional Chocolatier Program and completed an apprenticeship at East Van Roasters in Vancouver, Canada. In addition to owning Cocoa & Spice, Jennifer is a partner at the Crozet Artisan Depot in Downtown Crozet, VA.
Prior to her training as a Chocolatier, Jennifer attended Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA, earning a B.S. in Marketing and a M.S. in Instructional Technology. In July 2008, Jennifer relocated from Belleville, NJ to Charlottesville, VA to work for the Institute for Shipboard Education/Semester at Sea as the Assistant Director of Admissions and later as the Director of Program Administration & Student Affairs.
Jennifer left ISE in November 2013 to pursue her lifelong dream of operating her own business. She has worked in the hospitality industry for over 15 years in a variety of capacities and embraces the value of customer service and creating a warm, welcoming environment for customers. Jennifer began Cocoa & Spice to share her love of chocolate with others. She likes to utilize local ingredients whenever possible, but is always on the look out for fun, unique ingredients when traveling.
When not making chocolate, Jennifer volunteers at the Emily Couric Cancer Center at the University of Virginia Hospital. A survivor herself, Jennifer looks forward to her weekly visits with patients and their family members in the hopes she can brighten their day with a simple smile - and occasionally samples of her chocolates. Most recently, Jennifer joined the Charlottesville Derby Dames as a non-skating official (NSO). Her derby name is JenCocoa, and is affectionately called Cocoa by her teammates and members of the Charlottesville community.
